Ray Rice, What Happened?

Since the current events usually drive the American society, the latest is the domestic violence issue putting Ray Rice front and center. The incident has been captured by a video camera inside an elevator in a New Jersey casino.

There are so many questions and comments to be asked. Why did she stay? Why did the incident happen to begin with? Why did she marry him? His original punishment was a two game suspension from the NFL. When the entire video surfaced, he was terminated from his contract from the Baltimore Ravens, and additionally the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell suspended him indefinitely from the league. Was the NFL too quick to pass judgement? Did the punishment fit the crime? Are the American people to harsh on Mrs Rice?

Is there a point where there is an intrusion into their private lives? How should we as a society raise our girls/young women today to be aware of boys/young men and the dangers of possibly being assaulted. Please share your thoughts and comments.
