Badly burned body found on west side

INDIANAPOLIS - The body of an unidentified female was found Sunday behind a house on the west side.

Around 12:30 p.m., Indianapolis police were called to a home on the 1100 block of Elder Avenue.

A homeowner told police he was walking his dog when he discovered a badly burned female body in his backyard.

Detectives said they do not believe the victim was killed at the location she was found.

An official cause of death was expected to be released after an autopsy is performed Tuesday.
